I have wanted to write romance novels since I could put pen to paper, but never knew how to finish them. At one point, Harlequin submission guidelines suggested a book for screenwriters called "Save the Cat." I didn’t know a single thing about screenwriting, but I bought the book and it put the idea in my head. Later that year, my boyfriend put on Talladega Nights and I thought, "I can do that."
After I looked up how to format a screenplay (I was writing in Word docs and I had the margins wrong, lol), I wrote KID. It was the best 6 days I’d ever had in my life, and it came so naturally. I wrote BSD the following month, and finished MVP the month after that. Then I finally finished my novels.
I used to work in audit at PwC, but I wanted more time to write than pursuing a CPA would allow. I work part time as a content writer instead, so my stories will never be pressured to pay my rent (Bridget Brooks is a pen name, cause my finance/tech/insurance clients don't need to know I write boner jokes). When I’m not writing, I’m reading, cleaning my condo, tinkering with my flip phone collection, and 學緊點樣講到好似廣東人咁流利, so I can shop online for Gucci socks. But I always wish I was writing.
